North Dakota governor signs law banning nearly all abortions
Source: Associated Press
North Dakota on Monday adopted one of the strictest anti-abortion laws in the country as Republican Gov. Doug Burgum signed legislation banning the procedure throughout pregnancy, with slim exceptions up to six weeks gestation.
In those early weeks, abortion would be allowed only in cases of rape, incest or medical emergency, such as ectopic pregnancy.
This bill clarifies and refines existing state law ... and reaffirms North Dakota as a pro-life state, Burgum said in a statement.

(3,514 posts)What. The. Fuck?!?! Most women dont even know they are pregnant at that point. How the hell are they supposed to know if their pregnancy is say, ectopic, if they dont even know theyre pregnant? A woman wouldnt know the pregnancy is ectopic until MUCH later!!!
This is the exact opposite of pro-life. God, I hate these assholes. I hate em all.

(96,429 posts)I mean, cancer cells can achieve immortality without interference. Why would they want to fuck with that (if they are so bent on saving the "life" of clump of cells)? And cancer cells are alive.
Sure, sure. Those clumps of cells could kill the person within whom they reside but then so can pregnancy.

(4,604 posts)I think our lawyers should start using this simple fact, which has now been proven. The current custom is to start counting the pregnancy from the first day of the latest menstrual period. When the current method of counting weeks was started, technology did not exist to prove the moment of conception. Now we have proof that conception does not occur for about 2 weeks after that. So I think we should somehow force them to enforce only the REAL point of 6 weeks after conception, which would be 2 weeks later, at the point they pretend is 8-weeks after conception. That would at least place their limit at a point when most women know they are pregnant, and when dangerous conditions could be detected. Or could somebody work the language of this ignorant legislation even more effectively?
