(12,882 posts)What would that do for the school district my wife teaches for??? Crowded classrooms - ancient computers - prehistoric heating and A/C systems. Laughable electrical wiring that was maybe adequate in the late 30s. And she and the other teachers have had to take pay cuts to keep the district solvent. And then they want the teachers to be inspirational for all the disinterested kids. ALL those woes and much, much more scattered all over the ground and we are NO MORE and NO LESS secure than we were before it crashed.

(25,399 posts)I can picture exactly 'where that F-22 crashed. I also remember Tyndall AFB in the 50s, when as a kid I played on the beach and marveled at the B-58 Hustlers roaring over.

(15,740 posts)What were they doing at Tyndall?
Could they have been F-102s? Tyndall was a TAC base in the 50s, I think.

(25,399 posts)It might have been nearer to the Cuban Missile Crises that I saw the B-58s. But, believe me Zorro, I know the difference between a B-58 and a little F-102!

(11,093 posts)They've had a high crash risk due to oxygenation problems for the pilots, although that was "supposedly" recently solved. Perhaps it wasn't. Pilots were close to a boycott of the plane.
