Disney will no longer be moving forward with the construction of its Lake Nona, Florida, employee campus.
The company will also no longer be requiring California-based employees to relocate.
The announcement comes amid a bitter feud between the company and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis centered in part around the companys special district and development plans.

I like DeSantis, but I never thought that his pushback on Disney would result in success this soon.
Apparently thousands of Disney perverts will not be moving to Florida - that means they will not be voting in Florida!
Why didn't other Republicans think of taking action before.
And DeSantis has stopped Disney from getting its hands on nuclear materials without state oversight. The last thing Florida needs is material for dirty bombs floating around in Disney's swamps unsupervised.

Walt Disney Co. has canceled its plan to open a new Florida campus that wouldve relocated some 2,000 employees to the state, a change that comes as the company is engaged in a long brawl with the states Republican governor, Ron DeSantis. The company in July 2021 said it planned to move staffers, including many theme park designers (known as Imagineers) and consumer products workers, to new office space in the Orlando community of Lake Nona to take advantage of roughly $570 million in tax breaks.
Josh DAmaro, chairman of Disneys parks, experiences and products division, on Thursday said in an email to staff that the relocation is no longer happening, citing new leadership and changing business conditions.
Given the considerable changes that have occurred since the announcement of this project, including new leadership and changing business conditions, we have decided not to move forward with construction of the campus, DAmaro said. This was not an easy decision to make, but I believe it is the right one. As a result, we will no longer be asking our employees to relocate.
While some employees have already moved to Central Florida, the plan faced considerable pushback from other workers, especially as the political climate in the state became openly hostile toward Disney and DeSantis embraced legislation that many people viewed as anti-LGBTQ+.

(114,389 posts)I can see them relocating, completely, removing the attractions and selling the bare buildings and landscaped grounds to a consortium of megachurch preachers to turn it into a fabulous bible theme park.
I would suspect Disney is even now scouting properties in saner states with decent weather year round.
Wouldn't Arizona and Nevada be good candidates?? I think so!
Or I wish Disney would build something in Wyoming and help turn that state blue, but it's probably too cold.
