4 New Hampshire men accused of harassing, stalking NHPR journalists indicted by grand jury

Source: WCVB

BOSTON —
Four New Hampshire men have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Boston for their roles in a conspiracy to harass and intimidate two New Hampshire Public Radio journalists, the U.S. Attorney’s office said Friday.

The alleged harassment and intimidation of the victims included the vandalism – on five separate occasions – of the victims’ homes and the home of one of the victims’ parents with bricks, large rocks and red spray paint, investigators said.

Eric Labarge, 46, of Nashua; Tucker Cockerline, 32, of Salem; Michael Waselchuck, 35, of Seabrook; and Keenan Saniatan, 36, of Nashua, were all indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit stalking through interstate travel and/or the use of a facility of interstate commerce.

Labarge was arrested Friday morning and will appear in federal court in Boston Friday afternoon. Cockerline, Saniatan and Waselchuck were previously arrested and charged by criminal complaint on June 16 and remain in custody.

It says that the NHPR journalists were indicted, not the case, if you were wondering.

The vandalism occurred not long after Chooljian reported on allegations of sexual misconduct against Eric Spofford, a recovering drug addict who built New Hampshire’s largest network of addiction treatment centers. According to Chooljian's reporting, since 2019, the state of New Hampshire has awarded Granite Recovery Centers, which Spofford founded and later sold, more than $3 million in no-bid contracts.

The NHPR news staff have faced efforts to intimidate them and force the retraction of the story.
