'Bullhorn Lady' sentenced to nearly 5 years in prison for smashing window, encouraging mob on Jan. 6

WASHINGTON — A Pennsylvania woman known as “Bullhorn Lady” for her efforts to encourage other rioters to enter the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 was sentenced Tuesday to nearly five years in prison.

Rachel Marie Powell, 43, was convicted earlier this year in a bench trial of multiple felony counts for her role in the riot, including obstruction of an official proceeding, civil disorder and entering and remaining in a restricted area with a dangerous weapon. Powell can be heard on Jan. 6 using a bullhorn to tell other rioters, “People should probably coordinate together if you’re going to take this building.” Although she was convicted of using an ice ax to smash a window in an effort to create an entryway into a congressional office, she avoided the more serious felony version that has resulted in a terrorism enhancement in other Jan. 6 cases.

Powell, a mother of eight and grandmother of four, told U.S. District Judge Royce C. Lamberth she had succumbed to the “toxic” partisan divide in the country when she joined thousands of other supporters of former President Donald Trump in a riot at the Capitol. On Tuesday, she begged Lamberth for mercy, saying if she received prison time her 15-year-old son would have to assume responsibility for her young children.

“I hate how this feels,” Powell said. “Like I threw my family right in the garbage.”

wound its way through--not to mention that if not for the Jan 6 online sleuths (Sedition Hunters), I'm not so sure she and a hell of a lot of others would have been identified.

It appears the judge is letting her stay free until after the holidays. More breaks... but I think she's about run out.

clearly pre-meditated. Maybe Aunt Tifa made her do it?

Lots of MAGA types arrested, prosecuted, and convicted for an Antifa false flag event.

Before the pandemic, Rachel Powell, a forty-year-old mother of eight from western Pennsylvania, sold cheese and yogurt at local farmers’ markets and used Facebook mostly to discuss yoga, organic food, and her children’s baseball games. But, last year, Powell began to post more frequently, embracing more extreme political views. Her interests grew to include conspiracy theories about covid-19 and the results of the Presidential election, filtered through such figures as Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, and the Infowars founder Alex Jones. On May 3, 2020, Powell wrote on Facebook, “One good thing about this whole CV crisis is that I suddenly feel very patriotic.” Expressing outrage at the restrictions that accompanied the pandemic, she wrote, “It isn’t to late to wake up, say no, and restore freedoms.” Several days later, she posted a distraught seven-minute video, shot outside a local gym that had been closed. “Police need to see there’s people that are citizens that are not afraid of you guys showing up in your masks. We’re going to be here banded together, and we’re not afraid of you,” she said. “Maybe they should be a little bit afraid.”

On January 6th, during the storming of the United States Capitol, Powell made good on that threat. Videos show her, wearing a pink hat and sunglasses, using a battering ram to smash a window and a bullhorn to issue orders. “People should probably coördinate together if you’re going to take this building,” she called out, leaning through a shattered window and addressing a group of rioters already inside. “We got another window to break to make in-and-out easy.”

if she wanted to LARP a revolution. Maybe she should have thought more about her kids than her path to glory.

I hope she takes the holiday period to find a support system for her kids still at home, but she doesn't seem the type. She'll expect the 15 year old to take charge and the state will step into that situation immediately. Then she'll play the martyr because of her poor abandoned children who are wards of the evil state.

I have no sympathy at all for this proto Nazi cheerleader. I'd prefer it if she stayed in the joint until the youngest turns 40 so maybe her kids will have ample time to learn better values. I hope the DOJ appeals this sentence, also, 5 years aren't enough to give her kids a chance at sanity.

J6 "Bullhorn Lady" Sentenced to 57 Months in Prison
Rachel Powell was full of excuses and no remorse

Ron Filipkowski

Rachel Powell, who became known as "Bullhorn Lady" to internet sleuths seeking to help law enforcement identify, track down and hold accountable J6 insurrectionists, was sentenced today to 57 months in prison.

Powell was convicted in July of 9 charges. Powell was one of the leading instigators of the insurrection. As she pushed against the police barricades she exhorted others, "Come on up, people. Don't be shy!" After insurrectionists broke through the barricades, Powell broke a window to the Capitol with an ice axe.

...............Lamberth granted a request from Powell’s attorney for her to be allowed to self-surrender.
He set a surrender date of Jan. 5.

She had time to go to DC to try to overthrow the government in favor of her orange cult leader. Leaving some of those 8 children at home and now whining her 15 year must care for her younger children she deserves the punishment . And will also be known in the history books as that dumb ass who used a bullhorn to rile up the insurrectionists.

Should have received a much longer sentence. I hope the DOJ review of these inadequate sentences gets to her.
