House Republicans pick Rep. Mike Johnson as their fourth speaker nominee
Source: Washington Post
Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) was elected the Republican speaker nominee Tuesday in an internal vote by the GOP conference during a dramatic day in which Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) won a nomination vote but later dropped out. Johnson, 51, is the fourth Republican speaker pick since the ouster of Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). The intention is to go to the House floor tomorrow and make this official, Johnson told reporters after the vote, though it remains unclear if he has the 217 votes he needs.

(1,274 posts)This is the Republicans mess. They need to fix it. They are anti-American liars. No way in hell should Democrats help them. If anyone should sit down and vote present, it should be the GQP. They cant govern and they dont deserve their jobs.

And I believe the house Dems know this
They are waiting for, if it ever happens, the repukes to come to the Dems and ask for help. Its at that point, they are in our pocket.

My initial impression was that this guy is Gay... reading your post and responses concerning his hatred of the LGBT community pretty much confirms that he's one of those self hating gays who's destined to be arrested in an airport bathroom or a truck stop.

I'm angry this guy might win. The extremists are winning at a very dangerous time. TFG has never been more vulnerable, but they have no common sense at all and could wreck this country - happily.

(7,604 posts)Meet the needs of average Americans? Since when is the GOP interested in average Americans? Johnson is actually selling his Speakership on the day before the official vote. That's all this is. I'd also be very surprised if there are no death threats going on.
