I am glad she lived long enough to see how what she did really F'd this country.

There's a whole write-up about her legacy in USAToday that talks about things being dismantled that she had voted for during her time on the court. The article left out that the reason this all happened was because she handed the presidency to GW Bush. That started the chain reaction of shit we are still in today.

That will be her legacy. She screwed the nation, big time, and will be forever remembered for doing so.

Not the outcome she was expecting, no doubt.

In which a liberal justice (Matthau) grapples with, and eventually comes to befriend, the new conservative justice (Jill Clayburgh).

The coincidences were so many, that the movie's release was brought up a few months to coincide with the O'Connor hearings.

I've never forgiven her for being the deciding vote in the 2000 sElection...............

NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A friend and I were just now talking about the probability of a much different world we'd be living in now had it not been for her and her vote

President Clinton told incoming President Bush that the most important issue at hand was Osama Bin Laden and Al Queda. The Bush Administration completely ignored that entire situation.

Had there been a President Gore and not Bush there very possibility wouldn't have been:

*9/11
*No wars in Afgahanstan and Iraq
*Much further along on climate change
*Common sense gun laws
*No Trump
My God.....Obviously, I could go on and on and on

I believe in Karma. My belief is that anyone who was harmed by an action they took (and how it effected the people in there lives) feel what they felt 10x over. If we're looking at the consequences of her ONE VOTE, that's a lot! For starters, 3,000 people dying on 9/11 and all of pain endured by their loved ones. There's no point in me getting into the weeds on this but wow!

Conversely, any of the kindnesses one has given receive those feelings 10x over.

I hope Sandra Day O'Connor is receiving her just rewards.

On election night 2000, she was apparently heard saying it was terrible when it appeared that Gore might win, because she wanted to retire and didn't want a Democrat to nominate her replacement. So it was a clear conflict of interest, yet she participated in the decision anyway (Scalia and Thomas had conflicts of interest, too).
