House Republicans trade blame over losing George Santos' seat as deep divisions over tactics persist

Source: CNN

House Republicans engaged in a tense round of finger-pointing Wednesday after their stinging loss to hold on to expelled Rep. George Santos’ seat that left them with a razor-thin majority and deeply divided over the way forward.

Several members blamed the push by a band of New York freshmen to expel Santos. Others said the constant GOP infighting had hurt them in the eyes of voters.

Some said that the GOP candidate, Mazi Pilip, should have embraced Trump. And many said that Republicans needed to improve their campaign mechanics — namely embracing early voting that Trump has denigrated.

...snip...

The chair of the House Republican’s campaign arm, Rep. Richard Hudson, argued that they could have done a better job encouraging early voting in New York's 3rd Congressional District, and said he would speak with former President Donald Trump about the issue. Trump has criticized early and mail-in voting in the past. Hudson added that the weather could have depressed Republican turnout.

Our ship has not come in, and this race doesn't change that going forward. We won a race in a snowstorm for a race that replaced a 24k putz of a Congressman and the opposition candidate had poor demographics for her party. That being said Suozzi ran a perfect race and is a great candidate. I think 8% overstates the margin of victory on a clear day with stronger opposition.

had absolutely nothing to do with it. Of course people would rather stay at home praying with hypocrites than have sex without the fear of dying or killing your partner.

NY is a safe State for reproductive rights. The major problem was Pilip hyping the border crisis and then having the Republicans abruptly spike the legislation to address this issue.

From a political strategy standpoint, I don’t understand why they keep turning to the guy that helps them lose. Other than his fluke 2016 win, aided by Putin and Comey, he’s been a loser! On second thought,
I know what they should do. Yes, let trump put his daughter in law and his other sycophants in charge of the RNC. Please do. Let them strategize winning races. That will help them win more races.
