President Joe Biden is continuing his campaign ramp-up with a visit to battleground Wisconsin on Wednesday, a day after he clinched the Democratic nomination. Biden's first stop was an official event to talk infrastructure at a Boys & Girls Club.
There, he touted millions in funding for a project to improve Milwaukee's 6th Street Corridor -- part of his administration's push to highlight the positive impact of his policies as he looks to convince voters to give him a second term. The president spoke about the impact of an interstate highway that broke up largely Black and minority neighborhoods in the city.
"Today, we're recognizing that history to make new history," he said. "I'm here to announce a first-of-its-kind investment: $3.3 billion in 132 projects in 42 states going to help right historic wrongs," he said. "Let's be clear. This groundbreaking investment comes from two historic laws I signed," he added, pointing to the bipartisan infrastructure law and the Inflation Reduction Act.
Later Wednesday, Biden will turn to his reelection bid and join supporters at the opening of his 2024 campaign headquarters in the city.
