The Republican National Committee sues Michigan over the state's voter rolls

Source: NBC

The Republican National Committee sued Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, a Democrat, on Wednesday in an attempt to force election officials to trim down the state’s voter rolls.

The lawsuit, which was filed in federal court, argues that Michigan is violating the National Voter Registration Act’s requirement to maintain clean and accurate vote registration rolls.

The move comes just days after Trump allies effectively took over the RNC's leadership ahead of the 2024 election.

“At least 53 Michigan counties have more active registered voters than they have adult citizens who are over the age of 18. That number of voters is impossibly high,” the lawsuit said. “An additional 23 counties have active-voter registration rates that exceed 90 percent of adult citizens over the age of 18. That figure far eclipses the national and statewide voter registration rate in recent elections.”

This is driven by people who were never removed from the rolls. Many have passed, moved, etc. There's no evidence that non-existent people are actually casting votes.

But cleaning up the rolls would prevent this. And now it’s a talking point for every uninformed MAGA.

2. Trump has shown how easy it is to manipulate the US court system.

And to get corrupt judges to make it up as they go.

That will be the new GOP political strategy to bully and cheat their way into power.

Or they can only afford bare bones help.

So the legal system is mostly available only to the rich.

And then invent false facts and interpretations to achieve their political goals.

It is despicable.

is what I read someplace. For every Democrat who died from COVID, 5 republicans died from it.
Qanon may prove to be the Democrats secret weapon.
Stupid is as stupid does. Listen to Donald the Dumb; take anti-malarial drugs, horse de-wormer, drink bleach, shove bright lights up your ass, anything but doing the correct thing: getting vaccinated.
Evil Dr. Fauci and Bill Gates....putting tracking devices in the vaccine and making Incels sterile. Trumpers were much too smart to be caught in their evil traps. 🤪

We now have automatic voter registration available at Secretary of State Drivers Lifense offices, which we were a pioneer in doing. We have high schools who register 17 year olds prior to their birthday for Govetnment classes. We have voter registration drives at colleges and in neighborhoods. We just passed, 2 years ago, a series of enhanced ways to register to vote, many times just by interesting with various government agencies.

Are dead people carried on the rolls?
My stepdad appeared for one election after he died, and then disappeared. My Mom died in January 2021 (Covid), agg my d was on the rolls still in May, but was gone before the August primary.

Michigan lost about 45,000 voters during Covid. I’m sure most are now off the rolls.

Are some still on? Could be. I can tell you, however, that I have yet to see ANY of them at the polls on Election Day.

Their “complaint” is that there are more registered voters than adults in the county. (Note- the local clerks, not Benson, are responsible for the number of voters on the rolls. )

When the 2020 census was taken, I was in the middle of a move. I filed my census data at my old location. A month later, after I moved, I got a postcard from the Census asking me to report my info- so I did at the new location as well. I only have one voter profile, and it now says I’m good in my new location. But Census (the number of adults) would show me in both spots.

I also would note that the majority of counties (53) with more registered voters than adults (we were undercounted in the Census.) a maj out city of THose counties are run by republican county clerks.

5. I'll bet the same is true in plenty of other states.

You don't automatically come off the rolls immediately if you move. They're targeting Michigan because they hate that the Dems are now running the state and the top dogs are women - strong women at that!

8. Now, if there are more VOTES than adults, that should be concerning.

But in my entire life, I've never unregistered to vote at any previous address, and I was moving every 12 months for a while there.

The Rs should take two fainting couches and call us in the morning.

Regarding the republican strategy to meddle with our elections in just this way?
