Iran Vows Revenge Against Israel After Rare Direct Strike

Iran vowed revenge on Israel after blaming it for a deadly air strike on its embassy in Syria — a rare direct confrontation in the adversaries’ escalating proxy conflict over the war in Gaza.

“The crime won’t remain unanswered,” Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency.

The strike in Damascus late Monday killed at least seven Iranian personnel including senior military commanders and destroyed the consulate building, according to Iranian state media. Israel hasn’t confirmed the attack, in keeping with its usual response to accusations of targeting Iran.

Oil rose to its highest level since October on the heightened geopolitical tensions and OPEC+ supply cuts.

It’s not like a brutal reprisal will come as a surprise to anyone.

Israel has grown increasingly impatient with the daily exchanges of fire with Hezbollah, which have escalated in recent days, and warned of the possibility of a full-fledged war. Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have also been launching long-range missiles toward Israel, including on Monday.

The airstrike in Syria killed Gen. Mohammad Reza Zahedi, who led the elite Quds Force in Lebanon and Syria until 2016, according to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. It also killed Zahedi’s deputy, Gen Mohammad Hadi Hajriahimi, and five other officers.

A member of Hezbollah, Hussein Youssef, also was killed in the attack, an official with the militant group told The Associated Press. The official spoke on condition of anonymity in line with group’s rules. Hezbollah has not publicly announced the death.

2. Obama had Iran presumably on a path to a peaceful nuclear program.

Since Netanyahu prefers Trump who pulled out of the Iran Nuclear deal, allowing Iran to ramp up their program to develop nuclear weapons, I have to believe Bibi wants a nuke to go off in Israel sooner or later, because why?

Does Netanyahu want to blow up the entire Middle East? Or perhaps to hold onto political power, he wants to be a permanent wartime leader.

Shrub tried that and then managed a face-saving photo-op to slide out of the focus on his own involvement -

eventually leaving us with his 20 year war.

Bibi apparently didn't get the Shrub memo.

We've seen this happen too many times. I can't believe there are so many who are oblivious to it. Bush with his daddy issues wanted to outdo his father when it came to Iraq. And I remember Nixon using Vietnam to get reelected and stay in power.

The more Israelis demonstrate against Netanyahu, the more likely he'll bomb something else. "You can't fire me. We're at war.

There's also no way he didn't know they were hitting the World Central Kitchen. He can't allow even that little bit of food to reach Gaza, especially if it turns back other aid ships.

Yeah, yeah---war is inherently evil. There are still Rules of War, and the Geneva Convention. Starving people is a war crime.

He almost matches trump in narcissism, deceit, and immorality. Stop sending him weapons!

10. Actually the building next door to the Embassy

New images published by Syrian media outlets show the aftermath of an alleged Israeli airstrike in Damascus a short while ago.

The strike targeted a building adjacent to the Iranian embassy in Syria, in the Damascus area municipality of Mezzeh.

Reuters cites Iran’s SSN news website as saying Israel targeted Iran’s consulate and ambassador’s residence.

Looks like they didn't even scratch the Embassy next door, impressive targeting IMO
