Donald Trumps swing through the Upper Midwest on Tuesday got plenty of local media coverage, but it also came with something the former president likely didnt expect: a former supporter lashing out against him.
Republican Voters Against Trump launched a media blitz in Green Bay, Wisconsin and Grand Rapids, Michigan timed to his rallies in both cities. Viewers watching the former presidents events on TV there likely also saw a voter named Chuck deliver a warning.
I am a former Trump supporter. I completely 100% hold him accountable for the insurrection at the Capitol, Chuck said in the ad. I will not ever support or vote for Donald Trump ever. Chuck said hell vote Democrat over Trump. I cant believe Im saying it, but I will, he says. I will vote for Joe Biden.
Republican Voters Against Trump said the spot aired on TV locally ― including on Fox News during Jesse Watters Tonight and Fox & Friends ― and was shown digitally in the region during Trumps visit.

It tells others that it's acceptable. Gives them cover.

(23,823 posts)I would like to think it'll be a blow out but not counting my chicken yet.
I live in the NE part of Fla on the coast. Very RW Republican. I have to say, the past 2 elections I saw Trump posters on every street, houses with multiple Trump signs, lots of pick-ups driving around with Trump flags and posters. So far this year haven't seen one. It's still early, but...... hope it's a sign.

(129,807 posts)as it seems to show a sign, "on the ground", of "enthusiasm".
I remember back in 2016 where literally right across the NW Philly city border, the 45 signs were numerous - and that was in a county that was purple, going blue. By 2020, that was all gone although there were maybe a handful further out away from the city line in less populated parts of that county.
It's still early in the election season and the yard signs I see at the moment are "local" (PA primary is April 23), so hope the downward trend for the GOP continues!
