John Eastman Asks for Delay in Disbarment Citing Hefty Legal Fees

Former Donald Trump lawyer John Eastman is asking a judge to pause his disbarment so he can continue to work and earn income as an attorney while legal fees mount in his criminal case connected to his attempts to overturn the result of the 2020 election.
Eastman on Wednesday filed a motion with the California State Bar Court requesting a stay of Judge Yvette Rolands order issued last week which recommended that he be stripped of his law license. In her ruling, the judge found Eastman had breached professional ethics rules by pushing a strategy to challenge the results of the 2020 presidential election that lacked evidentiary or legal support.
The final decision on his disbarment lies with the California Supreme Court. Before that happens, Eastmans lawyers argued in their filing, Rolands order should be stayed.
If it isnt, they wrote, Dr. Eastman would lose his ability to make a living as an attorney at a time when other matters arising out of his representation of the former President of the United States [...] have already caused him to incur more than $1 million in legal fees.

(10,303 posts)He can go file bankruptcy and go truck driving. It'll make him a decent living and he won't have those legal bills anymore.
Then again, don't become a truck driver. He'd probably be too dangerous on the road..

(101,400 posts)To the American people: Your prayers and financial support mean a lot, this week more than ever.
The link is to a GiveSendGo page where Eastman details his personal stations of the cross, including my own Triduum since the California Bar Court issued its ruling recommending that I be disbarred.
He really appreciates the $717,206(!) donated so far, and if you just keep sending your pennies, hell be resurrected soon.

Yes, this supposed devout Catholic is comparing getting caught trying to fix an American election to his God's crucifixion. And he's trying to get gullible believers on the "other fundraising sites are too woke for us, and tend to ban bigots" site to pay for his misdeeds, while trying to get let off anyway, because he'll make more money that way.

(3,301 posts)as the one you committed criminal acts as, so you can pay your attorneys to defend yourself from being stopped from doing the same thing again?

(81 posts)The hubris of these criminal lawyers defies one's imagination. I lied to and fleeced my clients but please "stay" my state bar conviction for lying to and fleecing my clients so that I may continue to practice law by lying to and fleecing my clients so that I may continue paying my criminal attorneys outlandish legal fees.
Even a "crook" like Nixon had more dignity than this thieving and disbarred criminal shithead. Please, Georgia, put this criminal asshole in prison on a chain gang.

They're not suing the venues themselves. They don't have a case against them because the venues have 1st Amendment rights of free association.

I could have sworn lawyers were required to take at least one course in Logic as an undergraduate.
