Trump Declines to Call for Federal Abortion Ban

In a video announcement, Donald Trump didn’t call for a federal ban after any set number of weeks, saying it should be left to the states.

He also said there should be exceptions for rape, incest and a woman’s life.

Said Trump: “My view is now that we have abortion where everybody wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation or perhaps both, and whatever they decide must be the law of the land. In this case, the law of the state.”

He added: “You must follow your hearts on this issue, but remember: you must also win elections.”

...because they don't want any exceptions whatsoever to obtain a legal abortion. All one has to do is tune in conservative media to see that this kind of extremism is now the mainstream position. Radtrad Catholic media like EWTN now regularly call for the victims of sexual assault to carry their pregnancies to term. That would have been unthinkable a few years ago, even for EWTN.
