Lara Trump Says Donald Trump's 34 Felony Charges a 'Bookkeeping Error'

Donald Trump's daughter-in-law says that the alleged actions that led to his hush money trial are a "bookkeeping error." The former president pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in relation to so-called hush money he arranged for his lawyer, Michael Cohen, to pay adult film star Stormy Daniels to keep an alleged affair she had with the former president a secret ahead of the 2016 election.
The money was listed in the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee's company records as "legal fees," which prosecutors suggest was part of an unlawful attempt to influence the outcome of the 2016 race. Trump admitted to reimbursing the $130,000 to Cohen, but denies all wrongdoing, saying that the trial is part of a political witch hunt aimed at derailing his White House bid.
Lara Trump, who is married to the former president's son, Eric Trump, lashed out at the charges leveled against her father-in-law during an appearance on Sean Hannity's Fox News show on Wednesday. The Republican National Committee co-chair said that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg "refused to prosecute this case until...Donald Trump decided he was running for president."
"Everyone can see what this is about," she said. "They have, and are forcing, Donald Trump to sit in a courtroomthis is a former president of the United States, the current nominee for the Republican side of the aisle for presidentfor weeks on end. For what, Sean? They claim a bookkeeping error. Really?"

(33,121 posts)Chump paid her (through Michael Cohen) $180K to keep her mouth shut, and then tried to pass it off as a legitimate business expense. Like they were paying the light bill or something. It was clearly Election Fraud.
But it would have been so easy if he had hired Stormy Daniels and paid her as a "campaign consultant" or some such thing. It probably would have been untraceable. But no, he tried to write down his taxes and that's how he got caught. That's why he's on trial now.
Nobody cares that he slept with her, probably not even Melania.

(2,889 posts)All campaign expenditures and loans have to be publicly disclosed. If he deducted it as a 'business' expense than that is tax fraud. Personal campaign expenditures have to be post tax money of course the Spoiled Brat can't understand that distinction as this was all a business grift to him.

They never consider the possibility they have been suckered by constant exhortations from such as Lara Trump.
