Sen. Marco Rubio won't commit to accepting 2024 election results

Florida GOP Sen. Marco Rubio, widely seen as a potential vice presidential pick for former President Donald Trump, on Sunday refused to say whether he would accept the results of the 2024 presidential election, instead blaming Democrats for sowing doubts about the election.
The senator, appearing on NBC News' "Meet the Press," said, "I think you're asking the wrong person. The Democrats are the ones that have opposed every Republican victory since 2000. Every single one." He added, And you have Democrats now saying they wont certify 2024 because Trump is an insurrectionist and ineligible to hold office. So you need to ask them.
Rubios refusal to say if he would accept the results of the 2024 election is notable because he did vote to certify the presidential election for then-president-elect Joe Biden. At the time, he said, Democracy is held together by peoples confidence in the election and their willingness to abide by its results.
Moderator Kristen Welker pushed back on Rubio, reminding him that no Democratic presidential candidate including Hillary Clinton in 2016, when she lost to Trump refused to concede the election.

And some in their party keep trying to figure out how and why their party has been consumed by fascism? It's because of idiots like Marco Rubio - mindless robots.

(2,150 posts)There'd be the same behind-the-scenes machinations, just not "successful". The only way you can tell if there was interference is if Trump loses - that's proof positive right there. So what about cliffhangers, etc.? Ridiculous.

(22,078 posts)That's what they always howl after any election that doesn't go their way - them, and above all, their media mouthpieces.
When polls before the actual election show that they might lose, RW media will reliably gin up fraud claims pre-emptively - just in case.
And like in Brazil last year, they then use that "perception" (among their idiots) to stage coup attempts.
Federico Klein - the State Dept. Trump toadie sentenced on J-6 charges - epitomizes that attitude.
And since Little Narco is the GOP point man for south-of the-border far-right types, it figures he'd echo that very tactic here at home.

If the Repukes thought Chump had any kind of chance they wouldn't be talking about "challenging" the results.
I think ALL election polls (real or fake) should be banned immediately. They are causing this mess, and it's a threat to our security.

(9,047 posts)If both President & VP on a Presidential ticket are from the same state, they can't claim the electoral college votes from that state.
Florida has 30 Electoral Votes.
The (R)'s will not give up 30 Electoral Votes, which they would have to if they win Florida.
But then again, they may be too stupid to realize this is in the Constitution and will select a VP running mate from Florida anyway.

(18,673 posts)It is truly insane, INSANE!!!!, the power Trump has over every Republican politician.
They must know it's evil and wrong but they still stick their noses up his ass and snuff in everything he debases them with.
The big question is, will this continue after Trump is dead and gone (or imprisoned and gone)?
Have they all joined the cult so they believe that this is how the country actually should be run?
