Nikki Haley says she's voting for Trump in November

CNN Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley plans to vote for Donald Trump, she said Wednesday in her first public remarks since exiting the Republican presidential primary more than two months ago. Haley said Trump has not been perfect on policies important to her, including foreign policy, immigration and the economy, but President Joe Biden has been a catastrophe.
So I will be voting for Trump, said Haley, who served as US ambassador to the United Nations under the former president. Haleys remarks about the 2024 race came during a Q&A session following a speech at the conservative Hudson Institute in Washington, DC, where she now serves as the Walter P. Stern chair.
Haley said she has no regrets about her GOP primary bid: We left it all on the field. She also thanked the primary voters who have continued to back her even after her departure from the race a potential warning sign for Trump. And she reiterated the call shed made when exiting the race in March for the former president to reach out to those voters.
Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me, and not assume that theyre just going to be with him. And I genuinely hope he does that, Haley said.

(28,356 posts)All of the power that she got, was just thrown away.
Perhaps he said she would be her VP pick, but knowing how Trump operates he just played her.
He could have hinted at it, and then he'll do a Lucy and snatch the ball from Charlie Brown at the last second.
What could she say to her base at that point, "Ops, just kidding?"
Trump will get revenge on her somehow.

(116,573 posts)and she knows she won't get a job in the Biden administration, but she might still be a long shot for a cabinet position with TFG if she grovels and repents enough. And she will, if that's what it takes.

(7,156 posts)She just endorsed him.
All these breathless "disaster for trump" headlines because Nikki Haley got over 10 percent in late primaries. Pffft.
She's angling for VP even now.
BumRushDaShow
(131,746 posts)which has been a consistent 12 - 20% in almost every state with a primary (and I think the last primaries are June (edit)), will move to vote for 45. Some might, but they were voting that way for a reason.

(131,746 posts)There are a bunch of them like that out there.
You know why? Because they gerrymandered their states and still control a good number of governorships and state legislatures and they have been very successful shunting stuff through the 5th Circuit Region of courts (specifically starting at the TX District Courts) to get what they want WITHOUT 45 at the top of ticket.

ETA - you also had this guy - Pence says he cannot in good conscience endorse Trump (although he seems like a coward and might vote for him anyway, but he does represent a religious christo-fascist constituency that is not too keen on 45's dalliances).

As for Haley, an earlier poster was correct-she is an opportunist. She tries to come across as more reasonable than Trump but deep down, shes just like him.
BumRushDaShow
(131,746 posts)but you still have some Raygun sycophants in the party (note that a number of leftover Raygun, Poppy, and Shrub Judges have consistently ruled against a lot of 45's nonsense).
These are people who WILL vote (R) for their "row offices" (municipal/county/state) but may skip the top of the ticket, and in some cases, may even split the ticket for referendums/state offices.
We actually saw that here in PA after 2020 where a pile of (R)s actually crossed over and voted for Josh Shapiro (D) and that was during the 2022 election, so they were already breaking away even then.

(5,781 posts)She was a dumbass at the UN and continues to be. She has never come out with one intelligent policy or original thought. I also wonder if she has some sort of eating disorder! During her campaign she kept getting thinner and thinner and was covering it up with the bulkiest sweaters she could find. Check out past videos. She was looking terrible with a stressed, angular face and thin hands.

(12,871 posts)People will see her as someone who would be able to take over & also someone who may be able to stop trump if he goes nuts
If he picks one of the list of whackos I've seen, it'll hurt him. She wont. And the VP matters more in this election than ever before. Its an issue whether we like it or not.

(1,958 posts)He won't pick her because she will upstage him. He needs an empty vacant bland body bag like Pence McFly to stare adoringly at him while he spews and farts and death-threats.

Personally not shocked but I am disappointed that it ended up like this. Republicans never disappoint.

(10,048 posts)... she thinks Trump is "not perfect," but Biden "has been a catastrophe." That's odd... the only catastrophes I recall have been the last years of the GWB and Trump administrations. Haley has memory lapses.
P.S. She got something, undisclosed, for her comments about voting.

Give it up, Nikki, you will never be president. I don't expect all those voters who were voting for Nikki after she dropped out are now going to reflexively support for Trump. But I've been wrong before.
The only answer is to crush them at the ballot box.
