Trump campaign sends cease and desist letter to block release of biopic The Apprentice
Source: UK Independent
Donald Trumps attorneys have reportedly sent a cease and desist letter to the producers of The Apprentice, seeking to prevent the unauthorized biopic from gaining a release in the United States.
The film, directed by Iranian filmmaker Ali Abbasi, stars Sebastian Stan as a young Donald Trump and Successions Jeremy Strong as his mentor, the lawyer and political fixer Roy Cohn. Stan is best known for playing the Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Apprentice premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on 20 May, and its producers are currently seeking a distribution deal. However, Variety reports that Trumps legal team have warned them in the new cease and desist letter not to pursue such a deal. In a statement to The Independent, Trump campaign chief spokesperson Steven Cheung said: We filed a lawsuit to address the blatantly false assertions from these pretend filmmakers.
This garbage is pure fiction which sensationalizes lies that have been long debunked. As with the illegal Biden Trials, this is election interference by Hollywood elites, who know that President Trump will retake the White House and beat their candidate of choice because nothing they have done has worked.

If I were Ali Abbasi I'd not take less than $1,000,000,000.00 USD, in a numbered account, from TSF.
If it doesn't pony up then distribute the film and see the orange slime melt away.
TSF has run out of all the Top Tier lawyers, none of them will take calls/TEXTs/emails/Letters/Cables/etc ...
Ali Abbasi will be in Great Shape, with every Top Tier film dristribution rights lawyers available from across the US and Europe and the rest of the world.

as a younger man. I'm sorry, but Sebastian Stan is far better looking than Trump ever was on his very best days.
I've seen some stills from this film. Stan appears to be wearing a blonde wig, and is playing a much younger Trump, so weight is not an issue.
The issue is about a scene portraying the incident with Ivana where he raped her. It was over something having to do with his hair, as I recall. It was controversial at Cannes, and that was reported. So, now here's this dumbass "cease and desist" letter. LOLOL

(434 posts)I saw Kenneth Branagh play Boris Johnson in This England.
Could not believe how great the performance was.
He looked more like Boris Johnson than Kenneth Branagh.
It showed the missteps of England during COVID crisis.
Someone should make a similar film about the US during the COVD crisis under Trump.
Just to remind the voters of Trump's incompetence.

(17,356 posts)We act for Mr Arkell who is Retail Credit Manager of Granada TV Rental Ltd.
His attention has been drawn to an article appearing in the issue of Private Eye dated 9th April 1971 on page 4. The statements made about Mr Arkell are entirely untrue and clearly highly defamatory.
We are therefore instructed to require from you immediately your proposals for dealing with the matter. Mr Arkell's first concern is that there should be a full retraction at the earliest possible date in Private Eye and he will also want his costs paid. His attitude to damages will be governed by the nature of your reply.
The reply that the Eye sent back was:
We acknowledge your letter of 29th April referring to Mr J. Arkell.
We note that Mr Arkell's attitude to damages will be governed by the nature of our reply and would therefore be grateful if you would inform us what his attitude to damages would be, were he to learn that the nature of our reply is as follows: fuck off.
No further correspondence was recieved.

(434 posts)I do not know of a political leader that was ever to stop a film from going public.
Hearst tried to stop release of Citizen Kane but it did not work.
Hearst is not mentioned by name in that film but people noticed the similarities.
There have been anti-Obama and anti-Clinton films made but you do not hear them threatening to sue.
I will not repeat their titles.
