Democratic megadonors George and Alex Soros have thrown their support behind Vice President Kamala Harris in the race against Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump.
President Joe Biden announced on Sunday that he was leaving the race and endorsed Harris to lead the Democratic Party in his place. The party has quickly coalesced around Harris in the 24 hours since the announcement.
George and Alex Soros spend tens of millions of dollars each election cycle. Shortly after Bidens announcement on Sunday, Alex Soros shared an image with Harris and wrote: Its time for us all to unite around Kamala Harris and beat Donald Trump. She is the best and most qualified candidate we have. Long live the American Dream!
George Soros, 93, also backs Harris, a Soros spokesperson said, according to The Wall Street Journal. The investor and target of rightwing conspiracy theories handed control of his $25 billion empire to his son last year. Alex Soros, 38, who has described himself as a center-left thinker with a self-awareness of the familys wealth, initially wasnt thought to be a possible successor, the paper noted last year.

(54,671 posts)Right-wing, pro-Israel activists will attempt to discredit Vice President Kamala Harriss presidential candidacy by accusing her of antisemitism, Jewish writer Elad Nehorai and Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors said in an Instagram post on Sunday.
Nehorai and Cullors argued in a social media cross-post that they anticipate Harris will face a significant amount of hate speech due to her status as a Black woman married to a Jewish man.
No group is more falsely accused of antisemitism than Black women, Nehorai and Cullors said. People will believe a Black woman married to a Jewish man is antisemitic before they will be [sic] a former president who spreads antisemitic conspiracy theories and supports neo-Nazis is one.
----
They predicted that Harris would be subject to antisemitic conspiracy theories, such as being a puppet of her husband or the Soros family. According to Nehorai, some of these theories are already circulating, noting that X owner Elon Musk responded to Open Society Chair Alex Soross endorsement of Harris by thanking him for not keeping everyone in suspense about who the next puppet will be.

I disagree with the assertion in paragraph three, but, yeah, buckle up, especially those not familiar with having to actually confront anti-Semitism in a meaningful way, because this shitstorm is coming!

(137,152 posts)but some who think more along the lines of a particular agenda that they would like to see implemented and don't have any preferences regarding who can help them get there as long as that person is able to move it forward.
An example is Michael Bloomberg, whose biggest agenda is "gun control", and he will spend millions on candidates who are willing to promote that.
