Democrats Vow To Fight Trump's 'Illegal' Efforts To Gut Federal Agencies

Source: HuffPost

WASHINGTON — After initially being slow to respond last week, Congressional Democrats on Monday vowed to use what power they have in the minority to fight back against President Donald Trump’s efforts to shrink the federal government without approval from Congress.

They have some leverage: Trump needs the Senate to approve his nominees, and Democratic votes will be needed to fund the government once it runs out in March.

House Republicans have been unable to agree among themselves for years on legislation to avoid a government shutdown or raise the federal government’s borrowing limit, meaning Democrats will likely have to step in.

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) indicated Monday he will demand that government funding legislation “choke off” Trump’s unilateral attacks on federal programs. Jeffries specifically cited last week’s order from the Office of Management and Budget pausing all federal grants.

Jeffries also said in a letter to his Democratic colleagues that he has informed House Republicans "that any effort to steal taxpayer money from the American people, end Medicaid as we know it or defund programs important to everyday Americans, as contemplated by the illegal White House Office of Management and Budget order, must be choked off in the upcoming government funding bill, if not sooner.”

Then Trump will resign for reasons of health or be removed by the 25th being invoked putting Vance into the presidency so Vance can implement 2025.

Clearly the Billionaire Overlords are calling the shots, and they're making sure they get everything they want before Chump gets put out to pasture. I don't think Musk is smart enough or savvy enough to do it all himself, without a lot of help. Many evil lawyers are doing this, and they've had these plans in the works for several years.

He doesn't really have to know anything.

That's what his minions are for.

...I remember Grover Norquist talking about shrinking the federal government so much you could drown it in a bathtub, but I figured he was just being hyperbolic. No, the GOP appears to truly want to destroy this 240-year experiment in democracy. And yes, we heard about Project 2025, but we didn't expect them to do ANYTHING, including steal the 2024 election, to bring it about. Here I thought they would respect the rule of law. Ha ha ha.

I can't see Vance being able to organize a game of handball with Congressional republicans.

Due process can be demanded.

I wasn't able to find anything equivalent for SS (retirement benefit) payments.
Others might be more successful.

Waiting until March to use the debt ceiling as leverage means that Musk will have taken control of most of the agencies and fired thousands of people. It will be hard to undo that.
