President Donald Trump said a suspect in the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk was in custody on Friday after an extensive manhunt for the shooter. “I think with a high degree of certainty we have him,” Trump said Friday in an interview on Fox News.

Trump said the arrest was made after law enforcement received a tip from a minister who believed he recognized the shooter from images released by authorities, and that the suspect’s father was also involved in helping to apprehend the individual. “Somebody close to him turned him, you know, they said, whoa. It’s interesting, where we had very good pictures, but not great, not perfect,” he said, without identifying the person.

The suspect is Tyler Robinson, 22, from Utah, said two people with knowledge of the investigation who asked not to be named because the information isn’t public.

The president’s comments follow the fatal shooting of Kirk on Wednesday during an event at at Utah Valley University and an extensive search for the shooter. Kirk, 31, executive director of Turning Point USA and a close ally of President Donald Trump, was shot in the neck as he spoke at an outdoor student event before a crowd of more than 3,000. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

It's much easier to type up a manifesto and post it online or email it to a news organization. It's very unlikely a shooter is engraving anything onto bullet casings. Those markings are machine stamped at the factory.

The New York Times is reporting that a man was taken into custody on Thursday at 11pm MT (the local time zone in Utah), by Utah state and local police.

The Times cites a law enforcement official, who requested anonymity to talk about the case.

They add that, allegedly, the man in question was arrested near Zion National Park – which is hundreds of miles away from the Utah Valley University campus.

I'm old enough to remember when we brought in suspects who were innocent until proven guilty. We don't even know who these guilty people are, but we know they are guilty without evidence, trial/hearing, etc. ICE declares people guilty when they "detain" them because they are paid a bonus based on the body count.
