Trump Says He Hasn't Been Briefed on Russian Fighter Jets Breaching NATO Airspace: 'I'll Have To Take a Look'

Many hours after Russian fighter jets breached the airspace of Estonia, a NATO member, President Donald Trump indicated he had yet to be briefed on the matter.

On Friday, three Russian MiG-31 jets violated Estonian airspace for about 12 minutes. NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said the jets were “forced to flee” after being confronted by Finnish, Italian, and Swedish fighter jets. The drama comes amid Russia’s escalating airstrikes on Ukraine, which Russia invaded in February 2022.

Hours later, Trump took questions from reporters in the Oval Office, where one of them asked if he considered Russia’s actions that morning to be a threat.

“Do you see that as a threat to NATO?” the reporter inquired. “Well, I’m gonna have to look at it,” the president responded. “They’re gonna be briefing me in a short while. So, I’ll let you know about it tonight or tomorrow.”
