Sea below:
Firearms Manufacturers in the United States
(First number is for those companies still in business. Those in parenthesis are no longer in business.)

"Blue" States = 40 (17)
"Red" States = 34 (5)
Indeterminate = 8 (3)
Foreign = 2

("Indeterminate" means that the information provided wasn't clear on where their HQ was located, or I wasn't reasonably sure of the "red/blue" status of the state.)

I thought this was interesting, too:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Jovino_Gun_Shop
John Jovino Gun Shop or the John Jovino Company is a firearms dealer and factory located at 183 Grand Street, in Little Italy in the New York City borough of Manhattan. It is the oldest gun retailer in New York City and claims to be the oldest gun shop in the United States.

By the numbers listed above, y'all have a rather large weapons manufacturing footprint in the northeastern states, yet you (or a small minority of y'all) don't seem to want to own that responsibility with regards to who gets the guns (re, your reference to it being the "fault" of "red" states.) Why is that, exactly?

Possession of all those weapons is probably illegal in NYC. Shooting people is probably illegal there too. So much for strict laws preventing crimes.
