Trump administration says immigration enforcement threatens higher food prices

Source: Washington Post

In an unusual acknowledgement, the Labor Department said that tougher immigration enforcement is hurting farmers and the food supply.

The Trump administration said that its immigration crackdown is hurting farmers and risking higher food prices for Americans by cutting off agriculture’s labor supply.

The Labor Department warned in an obscure document filed with the Federal Register last week that “the near total cessation of the inflow of illegal aliens” is threatening “the stability of domestic food production and prices for U.S. consumers.”

“Unless the Department acts immediately to provide a source of stable and lawful labor, this threat will grow,” with increased funding for immigration enforcement from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, the Labor Department said in the Federal Register, which is the place where all proposed rules are recorded for the public to view and comment.

Also, contradicting comments made by Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins that the U.S. farm workforce will become “100 percent American” as a result of mass deportations, the Labor Department noted that Americans are not willing to step into farm work and lack the skills to fill agricultural jobs that undocumented immigrants are abandoning.

“The Department concludes that qualified and eligible U.S. workers will not make themselves available in sufficient numbers,” the agency said.

Most able people on Medicaid already work, and SNAP recipients are often mothers caring for children (and also working) or the elderly poor. Trump and Miller are so evil, they don’t care if people starve.

Here's a news flash, the higher food prices are already here, what used to cost me about $35.00 now costs me about $60.00-$65.00.

When was the last time any of these House or Senate repukes actually went into a grocery store, or any store for that matter, and did their own shopping?
When was the last time anyone in the Been A Dick Donald regime did the same?

It's pretty obvious that these fucking clowns have no idea what the average American is going through to try to keep their families fed, clothed, a roof over their heads, etc..

They are not surprised.

Their goal was to go in and fuck up everything they possible can.

They have been going full steam ahead since day one.

This is a threat.

They want that “all American” work force or else.

“ you want Medicaid or Medicare? Then off to the work farms for you!”

You think I’m kidding?

Yes, people get mad as hell at me all the time when I do this. But people who don't have a "free" (or non-free) account at the Washington Post have to create a free (or non-free) account in order to read these "gift" links. In order to do that, one has to give them an email address. I won't do that. I don't need or want Jeff Bozos and his buddies spamming me through yet another channel.

I always shop for lowest prices and that includes shopping at markets where you bag your own groceries. The parking lot is now filling up with luxury vehicles and the customers in my predominately minority neighborhood have shall we say, taken on a lighter shade of tan.
