Trump Admin to Investigate 'No Kings' Protests

Source: Newsweek

Published Oct 20, 2025 at 02:26 AM EDT updated Oct 20, 2025 at 10:00 AM EDT

President Donald Trump said his administration is probing whether the billionaire philanthropist George Soros "and other radical left lunatics" helped to fund the "No Kings" protests on Saturday.

Through his foundations, Soros has heavily funded progressive causes across the world, including in the U.S., and become a bête noire of the conservative right. Trump has also recently designated the far-left Antifa movement as a terrorist organization. “I guess (the protest) was paid for by Soros and other radical left lunatics,” Trump told reporters on board Air Force One as he traveled back to Washington, D.C., from Florida on Sunday night. “It looks like it was, we're checking it out.”

Why It Matters

The “No Kings” protests are an illustration of how divided America is right now, with millions gathering across the United States on Saturday. Organizers said nearly 7 million people attended around 2,700 protests in every state across the U.S. on Saturday. International demonstrations were also seen in several European countries, including Germany, Portugal, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic.

Trump's claim that Soros may have funded the movement questions the legitimacy of the protests against him, implying that they may not be reflective of what people actually believe.

Mon Oct 20, 2025, 03:59 PM

I don't know how many of them actually believe it, but every time there's a big protest, this trope gets trotted out. They just can't believe that huge numbers of people would take time out of our lives to do this just because we actually care about what's happening to this country. Among other things, that runs counter to one of their other favorite tropes - that anyone who opposes Trump "hates America." So they claim we must be getting paid!

It's pathetically childish and incredibly tiresome, but that's MAGA and the GOP for you!

With their full size flag and megaphone and caused problems for the well behaved crowd by disrupting traffic. I had a conversation with a lady who had spoken with them and she told me that they insisted that we were all bused in from New York City by George Soros. There were hundreds at this protest in our small city in Northeastern New York and we're a lot closer to Canada than New York City. Plus I saw numerous people that I knew.

DOJ during Obama's terms did not investigate Tea Party or the Koch brothers when they protested.

MSM, stop normalizing Trump.

So he wants the Supreme Court to interfere with the political activities of Soros and his money but not his own donors and grifting front groups?

It's not even against the law. The Koch brothers openly funded Tea Party protests for decades and no one ever considered going after them legally.

He can’t fathom that we do this of our own free will and without compensation because we want our democracy back and him in prison where he belongs.

This is our cause, and our purpose. We use our own resources to make it happen.
We are the true patriots. We stand for the Constitution and the rule of law.
We do what we do because we love America, and are determined to defend our beloved country from this domestic enemy that threatens to end 250 years of freedom.

We serve No King. We worship No Ruler.
We choose who will lead us, and expect that person to be worthy of our trust.

kind of at the last minute on Saturday morning. I took a quick shower, dried my hair, dressed and then ransacked my craft room looking for materials to make a sign. I had a small piece of left-over foam board, a black marker and a red Sharpie, some red, blue and white ribbons and a small American flag on a thin dowel stick that was stuck in a can with pens and pencils. I quickly penciled NO KINGS on the foam board, traced over that with my markers, stapled ribbons on two corners and duct taped the flag on another corner. Badda Boom, badda bang…..Ready to show our support for the cause.

Total amount spent …..practically nothing. Zero dollars invested.

Return on investment……ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS! What a day!! What a fabulous day to be an American! It helped restore our sense of pride in showing up to express our dissatisfaction with Donald J. tRump. He just needs to get over himself. We the people have spoken loud and clear. We do not like you, tRumpolini, and are even less enchanted with your policies and actions. Watch out because we are looking forward to the next election. Your days as a wannabe bee dictator are coming to an end. Your crown is looking tarnished and tattered. Kind of fitting for a guy like you.

If a billionaire was handing out money to protest trump would have been there with his own sign.
