13 people were shot at 'large party' and 2 have died, North Carolina sheriff says

Two people were killed and 11 others were wounded when gunfire erupted at a party in on a dirt road in southeastern North Carolina, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

“Several” among the wounded are in critical condition, the sheriff’s office said in an Oct. 25 news release.

The shootings happened “at a large party on Dixon Drive just outside of Maxton,” officials said.

“More than 150 of people ran from the location before law enforcement arrived,” the sheriff’s office said. “There is no current threat to the community as this appears to have been an isolated incident.”
