Newspaper threatened with ‘suspicious white powder’ after publishing gun owners’ names
Source: Rawstory/The Journal News (Westchester)
A New York newspaper this week said that it would hire armed guards because it was sent suspicious white powder after publishing the names and addresses of gun owners in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties last month.
The Journal News staff is back at work this evening after officials deemed an envelope, containing a suspicious white powder and found with the mail, was not a threat, the paper reported on Wednesday.
White Plains Public Safety Commissioner David Chong said his department would investigate if the incident was related to a map of pistol permit holders that was published after the mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
That would only be conjecture on my part right now, Chong said. Well investigate this as we would any similar threat.

(24 posts)Yes, someone risked a felony charge, and scared the shit out of *people they approved of* in a devious attempt to cast a negative light on the enemies of a tiny Westchest Cty. newspaper. But you have SEEN THROUGH THEM!

(94 posts)Sounds about right that raging gun "aficionados" would resort to this kind of act.
Their "backlash" isn't working out to well.

(3,194 posts)When we all know the only legitimate Anthrax scare, was when the shrub administration leaked out some from a secure federal facility, and then blamed a scientist before eventually getting rid of him.
Now the cool way to scare people is with white powder in an envelope. Anthrax like from 2001 does not grow on trees, and the only reason it was allowed out, was because our government wanted some incidents to scare people a little bit more after 9/11.

(1,415 posts)the incident ruined his carrier, marriage and entire life. I'm not going with a conspiracy theory on this, but even though I thought he was a dick, he didn't deserve that kind of shit.

(14 posts)You are correct that the gummint was involved in this. More so than you can even imagine.
Funny thing is. In their haste to cover themselves they left some very incriminating evidence out there.
Perhaps one day we will have a legitimate gummint that will look into it. But I'm not holding my breath.

If you don't like something a paper publishes, write them a letter, call their office or just don't buy it.
