The Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles canceled 262 commercial drivers licenses (CDLs) after an internal auditprompted by federal findingsdetermined they were issued out of compliance with federal rules, a DMV spokesperson confirmed to the Scripps News Group station in Denver on Sunday.
These Colorado CDL cancellations come after Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy's threat last week to withhold $24 million in federal funding from the state for what he described as a slow response to a major violation of federal CDL regulations.
Duffy pointed to a nationwide audit conducted in October that found about 22% of the commercial licenses doled out by Colorado to immigrants were done so illegally, many to Mexican nationals a practice thats prohibited under federal law.
The Colorado DMV spokesperson said that of the 262 CDLs the state canceled, 219 were issued to Mexican or Canadian asylees and refugees, and only 43 others were determined to have been issued with other errors.

(7,429 posts)One of the issues during the pandemic was big trucks not moving goods across the country. We don't live like that, and it would take a complete turnaround to make it feasible. We would have to buy mainly local produce and meat, rather than having it shipped in from big warehouses or from other states. That means a smaller distribution. I swear, trump is purposely driving the economy into the ditch. There can be no other answer to what he and his maladministration is doing... propping up Putin at the cost of his own countrymen.

(22,181 posts)There's a saying that goes "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." I think that applies here.
Granted, Trump has purposely done loads of bad things out of malice. I just think stupidity is ascendant in this particular instance.

(865 posts)Should be very well vetted and highly qualified for the job, not to mention required to have proper insurance coverage. We were damn near killed by a guy driving a semi for Knight Transportation. Of course, they refused to pay for totalling our car and RV. The driver was from eastern Europe, spoke no English. My insurance company had to sue them. Colorado has had a string of fatal accidents caused by semi drivers without insurance or proper credentials.
