A 78-year old national furniture chain known for its affordable options is closing down.

All Value City Furniture and American Signature Furniture locations nationwide are closing. There are currently 79 Value City Furniture locations across 13 states and 10 American Signature Furniture locations across 10 states.

The chain’s parent company, Ohio-based American Signature Inc., filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in November 2025. At the time, it said all Value City Furniture and American Signature Furniture and their websites would remain open. This week, however, they announced going-out-of-business sales would start at all remaining properties with discounts of up to 50 percent on home furnishings, furniture, décor, lighting, mattresses and rugs.

And with all the Amish being deported back to Ahmland, there's nowhere to buy American.

Sad!

and gone over to 100% importing their wares.
Why buy hardwood from overseas and make furniture in America, when it is cheaper to import the finished product?

One very common supply for wooden furniture is from Indonesia, where old growth forests of valuable hardwoods have, and are being decimated.
South America too, I'd guess.

No one wants furniture made from locally grown or Canadian pine, right?

Tariffs are going to drive a lot out of business.
