Cuban Government Says 4 Are Killed in Gunfire Exchange With Florida Speedboat
Source: NY Times
The Cuban government said it exchanged gunfire with a Florida-based speedboat that had entered its territorial waters Wednesday, killing at least four people and wounding six others.
The vessel approached within one nautical mile northeast of the El Pino channel north of Corralillo, a town in the central Cuban province of Villa Clara, according to a statement on the Facebook page of Cubas Ministry of the Interior.
Cuban border-guard troops on a government boat approached the speedboat seeking identification when the people aboard the boat opened fire on the Cuban personnel, wounding the Cuban vessels commander, the statement said.
As a result of the confrontation, at the time of this report, four foreign attackers were killed and six were wounded, the government said.

On second thought, after reading an article by The Guardian which wasn't behind a paywall, this area is frequented by human traffickers.

(21,905 posts)Very odd that the people on the US' boat would open fire. What were they thinking? And why were they armed anyway?

(12,397 posts)They may get some leverage to make Trump ease off? Past blunders of our currently hyperactive incompetently guided, gutted "Intelligence" agencies have been sent into hyperdrive with plots so old and now off the shelf that there can never be any successful followthrough. Not in the Mideast, not in South America or Cuba. God knows how any military personnel from top to bottom could stomach a seizure of Greenland.
