President Trump's defense of his immigration agenda during his State of the Union address comes as public support is falling. In an NBC News poll this month, 49% of people said they strongly disapprove of how Trump has handled border security and immigration, a 15-point jump since last April. Amna Nawaz discussed more with National Border Patrol Council President Paul Perez.

As CBP union chief, Paul Perez has chosen to defend the indefensible. He tries to blame the media for the bad reputation of CBP agents. And he seems proud that many of his members are Hispanic. Does he really think folks like Steven Miller and Trump would not call them all illegal aliens and get rid of them when they are no longer useful for their white nationalist plans? He lies not only to himself but the nation when he so falsely represents this agency.
