Robert Wagner not interviewed about Wood's death

Source: ABC Local

LOS ANGELES, CA -- Robert Wagner has declined to be interviewed by detectives in a renewed inquiry into the drowning death of his wife Natalie Wood three decades ago, an investigator said Thursday.

Wagner was interviewed by authorities soon after Wood's drowning in 1981, but the e actor is the only person who was on the yacht the night Wood died who has not spoken to detectives as part of the latest inquiry, despite repeated requests and attempts, sheriff's Lt. John Corina said.

I doubt we will ever know the whole story about Natalie's death. But I'm glad they are still trying to find the truth. This was a big story back in the day and many of us still wonder. Maybe we'll never know.

Unless someone confesses. Whether there is anything to confess to who knows.

Frequently, we read in forums like DU and elsewhere that talking to the police is ALWAYS a bad idea.

Why does that principle not apply to celebrities, as well?

I'm not saying that anyone here said that explicitly, but even the implication is offensive to me.

Furthermore, he DID talk to police, many times.

Giving away my age but 'It Takes a Thief' used to be the highlight of my week.

I will always have an open mind, but until proven otherwise I choose to believe it was a terrible, freak accident.

She got drunk, had a fight with her husband, decided she couldn't be on that boat one more second with him, threw a coat on over her nightgown, got into the dinghy and off she went. I'm sure she quickly sobered up and realized this wasn't such a great thing to do at night on the ocean, panicked and fell out, maybe hit her head on the dinghy, and drowned. I don't see the mystery in her death, only the tragedy. And no doubt Mr. Wagner, now in his dotage, doesn't want to discuss this very painful episode in his life. I would hypothesis that the last words they spoke to one another were not kind and he has to live with that until the day HE dies. Leave the poor man alone.
