Peter Robbins, Charlie Brown arrested: Voice actor for 'Peanuts' character Charlie Brown arrested

Source: AP

SAN DIEGO -- Authorities in California say the voice actor who portrayed Charlie Brown in many "Peanuts" shows was arrested on charges that include stalking.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokeswoman Angelica de Cima said Peter Robbins was arrested Sunday at the San Ysidro Port of Entry. She told U-T San Diego that a background check yielded a warrant against Robbins from the San Diego County sheriff's department.

A sheriff's spokeswoman said she did not have details about the warrant.

The 56-year-old is set to be arraigned Wednesday on counts of making a threat to cause death or great bodily injury and of stalking. His manager has declined to comment.

Seriously though, 56? Was he really a kid when those shows were recorded? I figured everyone involved with those things would be much older. Have there been newer Charlie Brown shows which passed me by?

What's surprising is that I don't remember hardly any of those shows. It's surprising, because I grew up in the 80's, but it's the ones from the 60's which have resonance with me.

and not coincidentally, they relate to the big three holidays.

From my experience beyond the Christmas, Great Pumpkin and Thanksgiving shows out of all the others only the Easter Beagle show is worth hunting down. Most everthing else is hack-work where it seemed like Schultz was just looking for excuses to write an animated special.

None of the others (apart from the big three) brought anything to mind. What's crazy is that if they were on tv in the 80's, I can't imagine that I didn't watch them.

Generally, prior to the first Peanut specials kid voices were done by adult voice actors. However when "A Charlie Brown Christmas" was in production Schultz pretty much insisted that children do the voices which caused the TV execs no undue concern.

From what I recall, the child hired to do Sally Brown was only able to recite just a few words at a time as opposed to running through complete sentences and passages.

"Child actor Peter Robbins was born on August 10, 1956 in Los Angeles, California. His mother was an immigrant from Hungary who died from cancer when Peter was sixteen years old. He first began acting in various films and television shows in 1963. Robbins has the distinction of being the first person to provide the cute and endearing voice of hapless, yet lovable blockhead Charlie Brown in a handful of delightful TV specials that include the holiday classics "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." Peter started doing the voice for Charlie Brown at age nine and only stopped giving voice to this beloved and iconic character at age thirteen. Moreover, Robbins not only had a recurring role as Alexander Bumstead on the short-lived comedy program "Blondie," but also made guest appearances on episodes of such TV series as "Rawhide," "The Munsters," "The Donna Reed Show," "F Troop," "Get Smart," and "My Three Sons." In addition, he recorded a 45 single called "If I Knew Then (What I Know Now)" in 1968. Peter quit acting in 1972 and worked for a while as a disc jockey in Palm Springs, California. He graduated from the University of California in San Diego in 1979 with degrees in psychology and communications. He now works in real estate in Van Nuys, California and lives in a condo in Oceanside, California with his dog Snoopy. Robbins was a guest at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2008."

(AP) Anywhere, USA.

Lucy Van Pelt reported being stalked today by long time associate, a one Charles Brown.

"He was acting all sorts of crazy! What a blockhead! I swear he tried to pass me a rufie!" She claimed while sobbing.

But all is not quite clear.

Linus Van Pelt, Ms. Van Pelts younger brother sides with Brown, "She was merciless in her treatment of Chuck. She would unendingly taunt him with punting a football. Chuck, is a great guy, but sometimes not all that bright. Don't even get me started about how she treated me as a kid with my blanket".

Via a phone interview, A certain Mr. Schroeder defended Mr. Brown, "Charlie Brown a stalker? That's a laugh, he was so freaking shy that he never even talked to this red hair girl he had a crush on for years. If anyone was a stalker it was Lucy. She never gave me a moments piece when I tried to play my piano!"

The hearing is set late today. Ms. Van Pelt had asked for and received a restraining order against Mr. Brown after Mr. Brown's dog Snoopy tried to "kiss" Ms. Van Pelt. She claimed he had rabies.

Now, I would expect Marcie to stalk Peppermint Patty because she was jealous of the relationship between Patty and Charlie Brown.

I always thought Marcie was a little unstable; I could see it in her eyes.

Peter Robbins was issued a restraining order after allegedly saying he'd "break her in half" for botching his girlfriend's surgery ...

According to court and arrest records, the surgeon, Dr. Lori Saltz, obtained a temporary restraining order against Peter Robbins, 56, in a January 3 hearing. According to court papers, Robbins threatened to "break her in half" after claiming she'd botched a procedure on his girlfriend.

Robbins was later incarcerated on January 13, for what police say was a dine-and-dash incident at a La Jolla restaurant. That's when Robbins allegedly threatened a police officer with physical harm after he had been put in handcuffs.

Robbins has been arrested and is scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday on five felony charges: four felony counts of making a threat to cause death or great bodily injury and one felony count of stalking, according to the San Diego County jail website ...

... The plastic surgeon, Dr. Lori Saltz, obtained a temporary restraining order against Robbins, 56, in a Jan. 3 hearing in Vista Superior Court. She said in court papers that Robbins threatened to “break her in half” after she performed cosmetic surgery on his girlfriend and he didn’t like the results.

Robbins then was jailed on Jan. 13 when he allegedly told San Diego police officers that he was going to harm the police sergeant who had just put him in handcuffs, police Detective Gary Hassen said.

Hassen said Robbins was being detained because a La Jolla Hotel restaurant manager said he’d skipped out on a tab for food.

Robbins was arrested again Sunday night, on felony warrants, by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at the San Ysidro border crossing ...
