CCTV 'to broadcast live execution of Mekong River massacre drug smugglers'

Source: South China Morning Post

Burmese former drug lord Naw Kham and three of his fellow drug smugglers are scheduled to be executed this afternoon, and CCTV plans to do a live broadcast as the men are each given a lethal injection.

Chinese state media have identified the other three men as Hsang Kham, Yi Lai, and Zha Xika.

They along with Naw were part of a group that ambushed two Chinese cargo ships in October 2011 and killed 13 crew members. Last month it was revealed authorities considered sending an attack drone into Myanmar air space during the manhunt for Naw.

Below is video of CCTV news presenter Zheng Tianliang announcing this morning the broadcaster will run a 'special' 2-hour program this afternoon beginning at 1:30, part of which will be live on location where the men are being held in Kunming, Yunnan province.

A lot of people do. I'm always surprised by how much they hurt when I get one.

But I certainly don't think it's somehow more "humane" than the former method of the bullet to the head. Arguably, the shooting leads to a quicker death. China has "lethal injection mobiles" now.

There are forces for eliminating or at least reducing the death penalty in China, but populism will not allow it.

You stick a needle in their arm (and they'll probably be premedicated so they look like they're calmly submitting to their fates) and they go to sleep and never wake up.

China should go ahead and list in pubic how many they kill each year. How many are prison slave workers and the number of people worked to death. How many late term abortions their country does.

We need to start testing all the pink slime and meat extender protein products China makes for human DNA.
