Armed Man Kills Self in Pa. Sports Store Bathroom
FAIRLESS HILLS, Pa. March 17, 2013 (AP)

Police say an armed man barricaded himself inside an eastern Pennsylvania sports store bathroom and killed himself.

Police say the man entered Dick's Sporting Goods in Fairless Hills on Saturday night and asked to see a shotgun and ammunition. Once the clerk handed those over, the man pulled out a handgun and ordered the worker to undo the shotgun's gun lock.

Police say the man then barricaded himself inside a bathroom in the Bucks County store. He didn't take any hostages.

The store and nearby businesses were evacuated during the four-hour-long standoff.

I was going to bait the gun humpers about "if only there were more guns" but seriously, this is too weird to make such a lame joke.
He got the shot gun, and the ammo, THEN he pulls his gun?

first... what idiot came up with the bright idea that you could bring weapons INTO a store.... oh right... nevermind

I'll hold on while someone puts "Yackety Sax" to it, but then I really need to see it.

when the incident was still on-going. They had indicated that SWAT teams were at the location. At least no one else was hurt.

Particularly in and around Cambodia, Vietnam and the traditional Buddhist countries, then the headline would be 'monk commits another self immolation.'

Matches and gasoline (well the latter does when we as a culture STILL depend upon a carcinogenic) don't kill people, people kill people!

It seems they make an exception if someone uses a gun.

It's been argued that people who see people talked about in the media for suicide, get the idea to do something themselves. Suicides from the golden gate bridge are not reported for that reason.

The media for all it protests has incredible influence, even the new york times recently has had articles with the pictures of mass killers from years ago. Lionizing these losers, is what the mass murderers are after anyway.

Reading the dorner manifesto I was struck by the narcissistic shout outs to celebrities as dorner saw himself as their peer (a celebrity) in the media. It was very strange.

Whats news and whats not. It's a hard call.

Bucks County Coroner Joseph Campbell said Sunday that 58-year-old Mark McCarty of Levittown died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.

Authorities say he entered Dick's Sporting Goods in Fairless Hills after 7 p.m. Saturday and asked to see a shotgun and ammunition. McCarty pulled out a handgun — later found to be unloaded — and ordered the worker to undo the shotgun's gun lock. He then barricaded himself inside a bathroom.

The store and nearby businesses were evacuated during the four-hour-long standoff. No one else was hurt.

Lt. Henry Ward says McCarty had also been involved in a standoff with Middletown officers in 2002.
