China criticizes U.S. anti-missile North Korea plan

Source: Reuters

(Reuters) - China said on Monday U.S. plans to bolster missile defenses in response to provocations by North Korea would only intensify antagonism, and urged Washington to act prudently.

"The anti-missile issue has a direct bearing on global and regional balance and stability. It also concerns mutual strategic interests between countries," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei told a daily news briefing.

U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced plans on Friday to bolster U.S. missile defenses in response to "irresponsible and reckless provocations" by North Korea, which has threatened a preemptive nuclear strike against the United States.

Hong said China believed efforts to increase security and resolve the problem of nuclear proliferation were best achieved through diplomatic means.

and complain no one takes you seriously. No racism. . .i live in China. The government here does this shit all the time and people here believe it.

China has to walk a tight rope. it is the leader in world communism (whatever the fuck that means) so it has to support North Korea, but not so much as to alienate the huge trading partner it has in South Korea and the US. So they will commit to non-commitment and work to maintain the status quo.

Typical.

The past few weeks:

They tested a nuclear weapon

They threatened to Nuke us

They tested missiles in the Sea of Japan

And China wants us to not even take steps to defend ourselves? FUCK THEM

beyond that- I highly doubt that these missile defense systems will be effective. I read the reports on Iron Dome and it does not look pretty regardless of the claims of the Israeli gov. They told us in Gulf War I that Patriot missiles were doing their job and now we find out that they had a 0% effectiveness.

WE are supposed to just rely on "diplomatic means"? Why would they care about a purely defensive system on our coasts?
