Reince Priebus gives GOP prescription for future

Source: Washington Post

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus gave a blistering assessment of the GOP’s problems on Monday, based on the results of a months-long review, and he called on the party to reinvent itself and officially endorse immigration reform.

Referring to the November election, Priebus said at a morning breakfast: “There’s no one reason we lost. Our message was weak; our ground game was insufficient; we weren’t inclusive; we were behind in both data and digital; and our primary and debate process needed improvement.

...

Among the report’s 219 prescriptions: a $10 million marketing campaign, aimed in particular at women, minorities and gays; a shorter primary season and earlier national convention; and creation of an open data platform and analytics institute to provide research for Republican candidates.

...

“Over and over our co-chairs heard of the need for an environment of intellectual curiosity,” Priebus said.

...

The report tells Republicans they must “change our tone” on “certain social issues” to win over younger voters and reach out to gay Americans. But the authors do not offer a specific policy prescription on gay marriage as they did on immigration.

Could this be why Boehner suddenly admits there is not deficit crisis?

It will be fun to see how this goes over with the tea jerks who hold the party hostage right now.

major solution to the Republican problem, that can easily be solved. Just throw out the Southern Strategy completely because of Demographic changes. This will be a minority-majority country in a couple of decades. The Southern Strategy can no longer work in this country on the National level. When this country continue to rise in population, different groups of people will continue to shift to different areas of the country to escape crowded areas. Less populated areas will become more populated. During earlier Decades in the last Century, most immigration to the United States came from European Countries.

That has now shifted during the last part of the last Century and continues at the beginning of this Century to wards immigration coming from Central and South America. And most of the younger generation tilts to wards minorities. Another factor is they tend to intermarry more also among every ethnic group. They interact socially also. Stereotyping people based on race will not work anymore. Just look at how diverse the Democratic Party is compared to the Republican Party. The Democratic Convention looked more like the real represented of America's racial diversity. If you had some bring a take the White out of the whitehouse sign or put the Black back in the whitehouse sign to a major Democratic Party rally, that person would have been very uncomfortable doing so. It wasn't the case at a Republican rally during the past election. It is a good example of who the Republican party has been attracting. The Republican Party should change it's name to the States' Rights Party of Strom Thurmond because it is mainly a Party of the South and anti-Civil Rights. It is no longer the Party of what was the Union. Why do you think the South called the Union army the Federal Army. They represented a strong Federal Government. And there is no way in this Era a state can secede from the Union unless they won a Civil War within their own borders. Especially states like North Carolina and Texas which have large minority populations in large cities. If it came down to another civil war, the South would lose it again.

No matter how you repackage elephant shit, it still stinks like elephant shit. But let them throw $10 mil into the economy right now, can't hurt.

No amount of money will make it possible to stop condescending to those they look down on. I think their targets will see them for what they are: ignorant, selfserving bigots.

We need $10 million for a marketing campaign.... the big donors give it.... contracts are signed by the inner party crowd.... nothing changes.

If you need a crystal clear example see the Romney campaign
