Ashley Judd won't run for Senate
Source: CNN
(CNN) - Actress and Democrat Ashley Judd, who was openly considering challenging Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell for his Kentucky seat in 2014, announced Wednesday she was "currently unable" to run for public office.
"After serious and thorough contemplation, I realize that my responsibilities & energy at this time need to be focused on my family," Judd wrote on Twitter.
The announcement comes after months of speculation that Judd an actress with family roots in Kentucky - would jump into politics. The rumors sparked heavy backlash from Republicans, including McConnell, who began producing videos attacking Judd.

Edited to add..
A source close to Judd said that Secretary of State Allison Lundergan Grimes interest in potential race made the decision not to run easier. The timing just wasnt right, said the source.

(8,377 posts)This is like firing a person with an email. It took a chain of 5 tweets to make a simple statement. In what universe does a system of limiting communication to 140 characters make the slightest bit of sense? It is an insult to humanity to attempt to make a substantive statement on that sewer. If this is the future, humanity is doomed.
I wish Ashley well.
I wouldn't have wanted to be responsible for McConnell's laundry this past month. I bet he crapped his pants every day.
Now everything can go back to normal. The Beltway is at peace once more.

I don't know, I'm not in Kentucky. But I know intraparty, intrastate politics can be brutal.

(22,271 posts)And I'm thinking it wasn't just the PTB in Kentucky, either. My guess is it went a little further up the ladder.

These descriptions sound like she's going off to war or something.
I don't watch TV, BTW.

(14,881 posts)to "support" a sibling on a teevee program. It just doesn't strike me as even close to typical priorities. Only in America, I guess

(6,665 posts)She was voted off the show. She is a talented singer, but that corset she insists on cinching herself into at all times severely restricted her movements and made her appear quite stiff.

(14,881 posts)I'm sure she had a good time. But it just isn't a priority for me. I don't even have tv any more except the 3 PBS stations I get without an extra antenna.
To each their own.

I hope we have a strong Democrat running against McConnell, it's time for him to go feed pigeons at the park.
