AUBURN, Wash. -- A 9-year-old Auburn girl is recovering in a Seattle hospital after her 7-year-old brother accidentally shot her in the leg Wednesday night.

Auburn police say the kids were inside their home, located in the 4600 block of Auburn Way South, when the brother grabbed a .22 caliber rifle from another brother's closet.

Police are now trying to figure out if the children were home alone at the time. They have yet to file charges in the case, but the investigation is ongoing.

The Information Age just makes them accessible to the entire nation.

A culture of stupidity shouldn't be cojoined with a culture of guns.

you can be 12 and watch younger children.

if they were alone, CPS will come a-knockin'. which they'll be doing anyway.

where a young child can access it.

If it were up to me, the parents would be charged with attempted murder.

who endangered the children by letting the gun be accessible and loaded.

They take away kids from parents for lesser things.

Not only did they have the guns accessible (and apparantly loaded) but the parents were also no on the premises. The kids were taking care of themselves.

These shitty, gun nut parents who care more about their precious gun rights than they do about their own children's lives.

This is what "responsible gun ownership" looks like in this country.

I suspect that if you're incompetent enough to leave children with loaded firearms, you're too incompetent to plan parenthood.

Ain't no education needed to make a baby. Or 3.
