1. Six Secretaries of State became President.

Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, J.Q. Adams, Van Buren, and Buchanan.

No Secretary of State has become President since before the Civil War.

It's no longer the stepping stone it used to be.

She needs to wait until this Benghazi mess is completely off the radar.

Especially the General's who have fallen upon the "mistress" scandal swords;
to avoid embarrassing the country for the [t]reason acts apropos...

The general's mistress is blabbing now, but she has nothing to lose. Anyone with any sense will just go about their business and wait for it to blow over completely.
