IRS Office That Targeted Tea Party Also Disclosed Confidential Docs From Conservative Groups
Source: ProPublica
The same IRS office that deliberately targeted conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status in the run-up to the 2012 election released nine pending confidential applications of conservative groups to ProPublica late last year.
The IRS did not respond to requests Monday following up about that release, and whether it had determined how the applications were sent to ProPublica.
In response to a request for the applications for 67 different nonprofits last November, the Cincinnati office of the IRS sent ProPublica applications or documentation for 31 groups. Nine of those applications had not yet been approvedmeaning they were not supposed to be made public. (We made six of those public, after redacting their financial information, deeming that they were newsworthy.)

A Bush appointee oversaw these investigations, not Socialist-Nazi-Communisi-Kenyan Obama

(12,471 posts)When the damn RapeubliCONs did the same thing to War Resister's League, and Greenpeace in the 80s and 90s it was okay. Nobody batted an eyelash. When they went after Acorn, Fox Propaganda was all worked up, based on a fake video.
Now the damn bass turds are all bent out of shape because the same thing is happening to them?!?!?!
They can go pound salt into a rat hole for all I care. Deal with it, you RapeubliCON cretins! What's the matter, can't take a dose of your own medicine?

(8,155 posts)What the IRS did was wrong. There's no justifying their actions. If we truly want to distinguish ourselves from the Republican machine, we should be making that perfectly clear from the beginning.

(12,471 posts)I was saying that, according to the CONs, it was okay when they did it, now that it's being done to them, all of a sudden, they it's a major big deal.
Give me a break already!
So what if the Taxed Enough Already baggers are getting audited. Actually, to me, they would be prime suspects of tax evasion, just from their name!

(2,730 posts)the Media crying. I think the President should continue to do his job and let them continue to whine or impeach, whatever. I don't think it will help them in the Election either with Blacks, Hispanics or Asians, even Liberal whites. They can rouse up their base, but when it comes to violating our Rights, they don't care about those. So why should we care about their whining? As far as I'm concerned, the Media pundits and Republican Party are a trip! The Justice Department hasn't done enough investigations on the GOP as far as I'm concerned. Go after voter suppression and War crimes. And Chris Matthews need to take a break and chill out before he has a stroke!

(12,778 posts)I have a great number of opinions that the suits in the IRS probably wouldn't like. Is it okay if they audit me because they don't like what I believe?
I don't know yet just how serious this story is, but it needs to be investigated further. If the allegations are true and the IRS targeted anybody based on political beliefs, people need to be fired and/or go to jail.
