U.S. Park Police furloughs to end June 1
Source: Washington Post
Furloughs for the U.S. Park Police forced by the budget cuts known as sequestration will end June 1, the National Park Service announced Friday, because the agency was able to find other savings.
Were ending the furloughs, Park Service Director Jonathan B. Jarvis said in an interview, a month after the force of 747 sworn officers and support staff members in three cities began staying home one day per pay period in order to take 12 to 14 unpaid days off by Sept. 30. We have resolved this within the Park Police budget.
The decision does not stave off staffing shortages through the Memorial Day holiday weekend, when tourists will flood into Washington and the Rolling Thunder motorcycle rally is expected to bring 400,000 bikers to the city. But Park Service officials said that security would not be compromised on the holiday.
The U.S. Park Police force was the only federal law enforcement agency furloughed under the $85 billion in budget cuts.

Some of the baggers don't trust Kokesh, calling him mentally unstable, and even a infiltrator. He wasn't just an anti-war protestor. I found this picture of him from a stunt he and some others did at college:

Others think it's all a big plot, going into his so-called cushy job in Iraq and his rich daddy. Who knows?

Lot of weird stuff out there. I'm just hoping this is resolved fast.

That nutcase would have likely provoked a shootout with Metro PD.

(53,661 posts)He seems to be another of the many grifters in the patriot and other movements that have been making news the last few years, very mixed groups.
A while back I posted concerns about this event, and ways that something could go very wrong. In the past he was arrested in demonstrations. Did you hear why he was arrested recently?
EDIT: Here it is:

The article also goes into why some gun owners don't support him. One of their reasons, not smoking pot when organizing, is a no-brainer. People I know who were serious about political change years ago did the same thing. The guy has his hands in a lot of things, all seem to be publicity based. Another piece shows the CT crowd now says he's being persecuted over the gun march already:

He's calling for people to march to all fifty state capitols and demand the dissolution of the federal government. Not everyone is drinking the tea.
A rich, white, libertarian dude playing the ultimate victim. So many people suffering from the system he supports, unbridled corporatism, and he goes out to get himself arrested, making a scene.
It's all about his so-called right to do whatever, whenever, wherever he pleases or yell about being oppressed. Gimme a break.
