Sources: Fox News knew of phone records subpoena three years ago UPDATE

Last edited Sat May 25, 2013, 11:13 PM - Edit history (2)

Source: CNN

(CNN) - Fox News was aware years ago that the Justice Department was targeting one of its reporters in a leak investigation, according to law enforcement sources.

One law enforcement source said the Justice Department notified a media organization almost three years ago of a subpoena for detailed telephone records, and a second told CNN that organization was Fox News.

...

Fox had said it learned of the warrant for e-mails only recently, and newly released court documents show the government was trying to keep the investigation under seal. The network did not disclose to its viewers that the phone records had been subpoenaed.

The claims of the law enforcement sources - that the network had been given notice of the investigation involving Rosen - suggest that Fox could have known years ago that the Justice Department was going after its phone records.

THE ARTICLE HAS BEEN UPDATED SINCE ORIGINAL PUBLICATION. Apparently Fox now acknowledging it knew of DoJ search of phone records, but not emails. Hmmm. How reasonable does it sound to think that only phone records, and not emails too, would be searched.

I ask, though . . . WHAT free press?? He works for the Fox "News" Channel, for chrissakes! He should be disqualified from even being referred to as a "journalist".

And as an FYI, there IS no free press there or anywhere else in this country, not since Ronald Reagan killed the Fairness Doctrine in 1987.

Just because you don't like the president, that doesn't make revealing govt secrets ok.

reinforcements from the rest of the media, since now AP is involved. It is called the opportunity to pile on when you sense your opponent might be in a weak position. You throw something out there and see what sticks, even if you embellished it.
