Report: Rep. Pallone Running For New Jersey Senate Seat

Democratic Rep. Frank Pallone intends to run for New Jersey's open Senate seat, sources told PolitickerNJ on Tuesday.

Gov. Chris Christie said earlier Tuesday that a special election will take place in October to fill the seat vacated by the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg, who died on Monday, and he will appoint someone to serve in the interim. The primary will take place on Aug. 13.

Given the short time frame till the Primary, this will be a Congressperson or State official with an existing war chest, or a businessman who can self-finance.

leaning district. If he succeeds at winning the Senate seat Democrats will most likely lose a House seat.

9. Pallone doesn't necessarily need to give up his house seat unless New Jersey law requires it

He can run for the senate this year and keep his house seat. However, if he loses to Booker this year and runs next year when the House is up for re-election next year he would have to give up his district.

11. Gore and Obama won by 60, Kerry won by just under 60 , i don't think it's a republican district
