Free Press staff writer David Ashenfelter is blogging from the U.S. Courthouse in Detroit this morning for the federal criminal trial involving seven members of the Hutaree, a Lenawee County militia group accused of plotting the overthrow of the U.S. government. The six men and one woman are charged with seditious conspiracy, attempting to use weapons of mass destruction – bombs – and possession of a firearm in relation to a crime of violence. They face a maximum penalty of life in prison if convicted.

Swor said his client, the son of a preacher, was taught the Book of Revelations from the Bible and end times’ prophecy.

“As he grew, he studied that book,” Swor said.

Swor said his client believes that the Anti-Christ is coming, which will signal the apocalypse, a battle for the world and for the defense of Christ.
