Elizabeth Warren, Scott Brown Tied in Massachusetts Poll

Democrat Elizabeth Warren is neck and neck with Republican Sen. Scott Brown in the Massachusetts Senate race, according to a new poll released Tuesday.

The poll, conducted by Massachusetts think tank MassINC for the Boston NPR station WBUR, finds that 46 percent of likely voters in the state said they would vote for Warren, while 43 percent said they would vote for Brown. That's within the poll's margin of error.

...but nothing changes the fact that this is still a statewide incumbent who can't crack 50% (in fact rarely comes close to it).

And MA isn't a state with a whole lot of wiggle room for a Republican to improve that base number.

(and we know they have ZERO chance of nominating a non-horrible nominee) that their turnout will be low and we can kick their asses up and down the ballot.

because Ms. Warren is, according to this poll, only three percent ahead of Brown in this poll, the thing is within Margin of Error.

Brown's problem is he really hasn't done a hell of a lot, either good or bad, except vote with the United Republican Wall of Obstruction almost all the time. It is going to be damn hard to campaign on a record of obstructing Democrats in a state that's as blue as Massachusetts is, and that's what he's got to do.

...and acted as if she could ride the Kennedy name alone right to the US Senate. Also, the Repukes in that state were *very* motivated to get out to the polls because Brown promised to be the 41st vote in the Senate against the healthcare reform bill.

I'm glad the Dems in Massachusetts aren't making that mistake again. Warren is gonna destroy Brown in November!

When Warren beats Brown, she will be Massachusett's first women Senator! And only the fifth women from Massachusetts in congress.

Can't wait to cast my vote for her.

Thanks for the links. I guess there is some hope. After watching O'Brien and Coakley lose their bids for statewide office, I thought for sure it was because of a Massachusetts anti women bias.

Elizabeth Warren will be the first. But there isn't some sort of conspiracy against women. Sorry. Add Gov. Jane Swift to the list as well.

In the state House, 36 of 160 are women... 22.5% including the Speaker pro Tempore.

In the Senate... 11 of 40 are women... 27.5%

The national average for women in elected legislative positions in state is... 23.7%

In MA it is 47 of 200... 23.5%

So, it's .2% (less than one delegate, as 48 of 200 is 24%) lower than the national average.

Should there be more women in Congress? Absolutely. But across the board. In ALL states. Massachusetts does not have some secret agenda against women. We vote for women as consistently as anywhere else in the nation.

You have some very backwards people who buy right into the constant "Professor" Warren bullshit and see Scott Brown as a "regular" guy, not a nut like Republicans from the South.

That said, I'm confident she will win, and it won't really be close.

Warren still has to get by the other Dems before she even runs against Brown. When she does this, the election will start and the people of Massachusetts will get a chance to know her. I suspect most the state knows very little of her right now. There are very few ads right now and the media isn't following this campaign full throttle yet. I suspect that in a national election and Dems probably coming out full force (they didn't for Coakley because she didn't energize them early and enough), Brown will be in situation that will be difficult to win. And I think once Warren starts really campaigning and debating, short of a total breakdown on her part, this election won't be that close.

They should be quite interesting. She'll be armed with facts and truth and solutions and he'll be.... What?

Every time I think of him the mental picture I get is of pink underpants. Is that reason enough to get re-elected?
