L.A. mayor to chair Dems' convention
WASHINGTON (AP) The Democratic Party has picked Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to chair its national convention this summer in Charlotte, N.C.
A Democratic Party official says the selection of Villaraigosa will be formally announced on Wednesday.

(9,523 posts)His results in LA have been mixed at best. I think it'll just be seen as a superficial get-hispanic-votes thing from a guy who's been criticized for superficially getting hispanic votes to get where he is (Antonio/Tony Villar)and has the big potential to backfire.

(9,298 posts)Antonio is a terrible choice - he was all rah rah Hillary before he was all rah rah Obama. Big self-promoter and slick...his wife had enough. And he's disappointed the rest.
