Service members anonymously protest potential war against Syria on Facebook

Source: NY Daily News

Soldiers protesting military strikes against Syria are taking to Facebook to voice their opposition to a war.

"I didn't join the Marine Corps to fight for al Qaeda in a Syrian Civil War," one Marine in uniform declared, in a message written on a piece of paper he held strategically to block his face and conceal his identity.

As the US moves closer to a military strike against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the pro-Assad Syrian Electronic Army has made one of its most obvious political statements yet. Earlier today, the group successfully defaced the Marines.com recruiting website, posting a plea for service members to refuse any orders to attack Syrian government forces. "Obama is a traitor who wants to put your lives in danger to rescue al-Qaeda insurgents," the page read earlier today, as shown in a screenshot from The Wall Street Journal. "The Syrian army should be your ally not your enemy. Refuse your orders and concentrate on the real reason every soldier joins their military, to defend their homeland."

The 'anonymous' soldiers opposing a Syrian strike? Syrian intel officers dressed up like US troops.

I vehemently oppose US intervention, but my opposition isn't based on psy/ops from the asshole, Bashar al-Assad.

handwriting looks so familiar to me, for some reason!

NOW I know why!!!

It is the handwriting of people whose first language is the arabic (right to left) script! There are certain flourishes and slants that are very typical of people who learn to write the roman letters AFTER they've learned arabic writing.

Service members do not have the option of choosing which orders they follow or which conflicts they fight in. There are a couple of very specific exceptions (lawful vs unlawful) but there are exceptions to those exceptions. Good or bad, smart or dumb, they have no choice. They knew what the possibilities were.

Thankfully this is all BS.

12. Some Messages The Same

I noticed that some of the messages are the same. At least two of the messages were the same word for word. How likely is it that two different people would have the same protest sign word for word if they independently made the signs. It seems that at least some of these protests are staged to make President Obama look bad.

because they are in the military but most of the country doesnot support this. Those soldiers do have families. If there is a War it will be Obama's and Congress's war. People can make their opinions known in the next Elections and I don't think this will be some quick War as the supporters of it may think. Clinton and Biden can forget about being President and john kerry and John McCain might be through in politics when all is said and done. I think it will happen too. I never thought the Day would come when I agree with Rand Paul and Sarah Palin but there you have it.
