Harper offers Obama climate plan to win Keystone approval

Source: CBC News

Prime Minister Stephen Harper has sent a letter to U.S. President Barack Obama formally proposing "joint action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the oil and gas sector," if that is what's needed to gain approval of the Keystone XL pipeline through America's heartland, CBC News has learned.

Sources told CBC News the prime minister is willing to accept targets proposed by the United States for reducing the climate-changing emissions and is prepared to work in concert with Obama to provide whatever political cover he needs to approve the project.

The letter, sent in late August, is a clear signal Canada is prepared to make concessions to get the presidential permit for TransCanada Corp.'s controversial $7-billion pipeline, which will connect the Alberta oilsands to refineries in Texas.

Harper is trading one disaster for another, and the pipeline shit can't be cleaned up.

Harper has gutted Canada's environmental services, cut services and continues to funnel money to the one percent. He is the worst prime minister in the history of Canada. Among other evils, his goal is to destroy Canada's health care system which he is in the process of doing.

Harper is more like a lobbyist for the oil and gas industry than a Prime Minister. His government has even stooped so low as to label environmental groups "terrorists groups."

He's permanently damaging Canada and would fit in perfectly at a tea party meeting. The man is a psychopath. Nothing that comes out his mouth can be trusted.

are only as permanent as they are expedient. A thousand miles of pipeline worth billions of dollars...well, that's permanent.

Americans won't accept this douchebag whose the party lost the election to newly-formed upcoming liberal government, he is in hurry to make the deals for his favorite pet project, the Keystone so he can ensure that his legacy of destroying Mother Nature to continue long after his death. A bad way to remember his name forever.

Obama should block the Keystone pipeline, which is not intended to do anything about U.S energy security, it's all about exporting more dirty Alberta oil abroad, as fast as possible. I'm happy to leave Alberta's oil in the ground for use when and if we have to, after using up all the cleaner sources.
