Iran Denies Reported Plan to Retaliate if U.S. Strikes Syria...

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN) -- Iran's foreign minister denied reports Sunday that his country could be planning a retaliatory strike against the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad if the United States launches a military strike against Syria.

"Iran will take no action against its ally and brother -- Iraq -- and I believe all these allegations are there to justify any military strikes, which are a danger for those planning them," said Mohammad-Javad Zarif, according to the Iranian state-run news agency INSA.

"Iran has no plans to act against its friend and brother, Iraq," the minister added.

Last week, a senior U.S. official told CNN the United States has obtained intelligence indicating that Iran "may be planning" such a retaliatory strike...

It would be deeply humiliating for an embassy to be seized, like in 1979.

We "have been planning" all the logistics for an invasion of Canada, for quite some time. I'm sure we have plans for all sorts of contingencies that are only remotely possible.

"Planning" is a major pastime, and a serious job, I suppose, of military bureaucracies everywhere.

They say they will not attack US targets in Iraq.

They never said they won't attack the US targets elsewhere in the Middle East.

Having said that, I'm inclined to think the Iranians are bluffing and that any attacks will be by surrogates of Iran that will allow deniability to both the US & Iran since neither side wants to get into a shooting match.

about Iran bluffing. Iran is not stupid and threats have even came from the Ayatollah, which is the highest office in Iran. Similar threats came from Iran's Army chief of staff and from the head of their Revolutionary Guards. They do share the same intelligence with the Syrians.

You are in the dark, if you don't think the Iranian and Syrian Army is working together in an advisory role. They know the United States and Israel has been secretly supplying and gathering intelligence for a war with Iran later this year. That is why the claims about Assad using chemical weapons is phony as hell and only a pretext to take out the Syrian Army. Israel, the United States,Britain, France,Turkey,Saudi Arabia,Qatar and the Gulf States are all in on it and the Iranians know it.

They intend to also take out Hezbullah, because that is why they wanted the European Union to label them Terrorists. People supporting this, are the same people that persuaded an attack on Iraq. This is a continuance of the Bush neocon Policies of regime change. It wasn't just a neocon Policy but pushed by the jewish Lobby in this country too. These people are very influential in Congress and the U.S. Media. It does not matter what the rest of the country thinks, even if they need to destroy entitlements to pay for their War project in the Middle East. I don't think the President has been truthful and is in these people's pockets. He even insinuated, that he believes those are the people controlling this country. He only wanted to prove that he can do the job better than Romney. The focus was regime change period and not diplomacy. Diplomacy in their definition means threats and ultimatums.

There is a rumored plan where Iran,Syria, Hezbullah,North Korea,Russia, China, and other states have been anticipating a war with the United States and Israel, because they can't help themselves. They think the current U.S. Government is dumb enough to start WW III. They have been right up until now. Syria is only a redline. It is their redline, because they think it threatens their national security. They will not allow a U.S. puppet state in Syria. The U.S. already has forces in other states. The Syrian Army is a balance against Israeli aggression too.

They don't trust the Saudi, Qatar, Kuwait or Jordan monarchs either. Those Governments can be easily overthrown from unrest also in their populations. The only people that can stop the Winds of War is the American people and Congress. The Obama Administration is nothing but a tool. The President either agrees with them or he is a very weak President. It is very simple for Obama to say no and tend to business here at home. Congress or the warmongers cannot impeach him over Public Opinion. He will become a very popular President if he ignores the warmongers. I would show John Kerry the door.

Those International groups such as Turkey,France, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, wanting War in Syria, let them carry it out. I doubt they would. They want to hide behind the United States. The Prince or King don't want to lose any of their precious little war gifts from the Military Industrial Complex. Prince Bandar should fly the first mission over Syria.

What I do doubt is that Iran is willing to risk having it's military extensively damaged or destroyed, a military it needs to keep the current government in power.

Iran & the rest of the Middle Eastern countries have never liked or trusted each other, the underlying religious differences are too strong.

As for the rest, much of it borders on conspiracy theory. The President and his advisers are the ones driving the Syria mess.
